During tattoo removal the absorbed laser energy causes a photo-acoustic disruption, breaking down the pigment and colour within the tattoo into smaller particles. As the area heals over time, the body\u2019s immune system flushes away the shattered ink particles through a process called phagocytosis, causing the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or hyperpigmentation.<\/p>\n
The results of removing a permanent tattoo with laser treatment are effective, however in order to achieve optimal results, several sessions will be required. Your skin type, the colour used in your tattoo and the tattoo quality will all have an impact on the length of tattoo removal required by laser.<\/p>\n
Sessions will usually take between 5 and 20 minutes depending on the size of your tattoo. The number of sessions will vary, professional and newer tattoos may take around 8-12 sessions to break up while amateur or older tattoos may be removed in much less than that.
