Excessive Sweating

Excessive Sweating

This common condition, also known as Hyperhidrosis, can affect areas such as the hands, feet and armpits, and in some cases, the entire body.

The act of sweating is a natural function that enables the body to cool down. Although sweating excessively can occur as a side effect of certain medications or medical conditions, it can also happen for no real reason at all. Adolescents can often experience Hyperhidrosis, due to the hormonal changes in the body, in which case the condition may get better over time. Underlying conditions such as Menopause, Polycystic Ovaries Syndrome, male ageing and overactive thyroid glands may also contribute to this condition, and in these cases medical advice can be sought to help remedy the concern.

When affected by excessive sweating, the physical appearance of wet patches on clothing (which can also be accompanied by an unwanted odour), can cause the affected person embarrassment and low self-esteem. They may feel it’s necessary to wear loose-fitting clothing, refrain from removing shoes in public or even avoid social occasions altogether.

An injectable procedure that contains the same product used in wrinkle-relaxing treatments has proven to be an effective procedure for helping to reduce excessive sweating. When injected into the muscles of the affected area, this product can successfully slow down the production of sebum from the sebaceous glands, and produce less sweat.
